These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Beacon ("we", "our", "the service"), a milestone-driven project tracking tool. By signing in to Beacon or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Beacon helps individuals and small teams track milestones, tasks, commits, and project documents. The service is provided as a hosted backend (the Beacon Cloud API) together with a command-line tool, a desktop application, and a web interface. Beacon is offered free of charge during its current phase; pricing and paid tiers may be introduced in the future, with prior notice.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Beacon. By using the service, you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are not barred from using the service under any applicable law.
You sign in to Beacon using Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure. We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized access resulting from your Google account being compromised.
You agree not to:
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
You retain ownership of all data you create and store in Beacon (milestones, tasks, commit metadata, documents, etc.). You grant Beacon a limited license to store, process, and display this content solely to operate the service for you and the members you invite. We do not claim any rights over your content beyond what is necessary to run the service.
We strive to keep the service available but provide no uptime guarantee. The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. If a change materially reduces functionality, we will announce it in advance through release notes or the project README where reasonably practicable.
You may stop using Beacon at any time. You may delete individual projects with beacon project delete, or request full account deletion by emailing kurogin23mech@gmail.com (see the Privacy Policy for details). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that pose a security risk, or in response to a legal request.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Beacon is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our total cumulative liability is limited to the amount you have paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, while the service is offered free of charge, is zero).
The Beacon CLI, desktop application, and web client source code are published as open source under the license specified in the public repository. These Terms govern use of the hosted Beacon service operated by us; the open-source license governs your use of the source code itself.
Your use of Beacon is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes what we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and significant changes will be announced via release notes or the project README. Your continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
For any question about these Terms, email kurogin23mech@gmail.com.
